A Spirit of Inclusivity and Team Spirit

Coach Arena believes football’s strength lies in its inclusivity. Unlike sports that often favor specific athlete types, football embraces a wide diversity of backgrounds and talents. This culture of bringing boys together, regardless of where they come from, is what keeps Coach Arena engaged in the game long after his playing days.

A Philosophy Rooted in Positive Experiences

His coaching philosophy was shaped by a challenging senior year experience, emphasizing the importance of creating positive, memorable moments for players. Coach Arena’s goal is for athletes to enjoy the game while learning valuable life skills—both on and off the field. While winning matters, ensuring players have a rewarding and joyful experience is what truly drives him.

Cultivating Accountability and Unity

A key element of Coach Arena’s approach involves goal-setting and team-building. He holds individual meetings with players to set personal objectives and runs an offseason point system motivated by activities like weightlifting and community service. This fosters accountability, teamwork, and a sense of shared purpose among team members.

Memories of Perseverance and Resilience

Reflecting on his time coaching at Lake Washington, Coach Arena shared some of his favorite memories—particularly the remarkable perseverance he’s witnessed. One season started poorly, but the team rallied, achieving an inspiring comeback that embodied teamwork and resilience, hallmarks of great sportsmanship.

Supporting Our Young Athletes

Community involvement is vital for sustaining the football program. Coach Arena invites families to get young kids involved in youth football and underscores the booster club’s role in helping meet the financial demands—costs can exceed $1,200 per player. Your support through attendance and donations plays an essential part in the program’s continued success.
