After 20-years of real estate on the Eastside, I’m at the point in my career where leaving a legacy and providing meaningful impact is becoming so much more important. I’ve shared a lot about nonprofit and community organizations that mean so much to me, but were able to sit down with Christine Wood, Executive Director of the Windermere Foundation to hear about their mission. It’s just another reason that I’ve been with Windermere for 16 years.
Windermere embarked on its journey with a vision—the vision of enabling every Windermere broker to create an impact. Coming from a background rooted in the housing business, the natural course led them to extend their assistance to homeless families. As their initiative evolved, Windermere expanded its outreach to include low-income families, with a significant focus on aiding children in need.
The ethos of giving back has always been at the heart of Windermere’s identity. In the early stages, their approach was straightforward; identifying a need and providing assistance in any way possible. However, with growth came the realization that a united purpose could amplify their impact manifold. Thus, the Windermere Foundation was conceived—a testament to the collective commitment towards bettering the community.
For 35 years, a fraction of every Windermere agent’s commission has been allocated to the Windermere Foundation, amassing over $50M raised. Achieving a remarkable 100% participation rate among agents has not only instilled a shared purpose but also communicated a resounding message about Windermere's unwavering dedication to community support.
In the previous year alone, Windermere's contributions resonated with hundreds of organizations spanning the Western U.S. From homeless shelters to food banks, schools to hospitals, and community centers, the broad spectrum of beneficiaries received vital funding, with a core emphasis on bolstering their mission. Not limited to financial aid, Windermere also extended volunteer hours to further fortify the organizations' endeavors.
I couldn’t be more proud to work at Windermere and support the Foundation that’s working so hard to reach the overlooked and unmet needs right here on the Eastside.
