EASTSIDE ELEVATED REVEALS: Beyond the Build - Signature Touches at the Rose Point Showpiece

The Mirikeen Touch: Signature Details in “The Westly”

I have the privilege of touring some truly remarkable homes. A recent visit to "The Westly" by Mirikeen Homes, located in the charming West of Market neighborhood, truly showcased what sets Mirikeen apart. It's not just about high-end finishes, but a commitment to unique design and a homeowner-centric approach that elevates a living space.

Here are a few of the "signature Mirikeen touches" that particularly impressed me from my private tour with owner Mike Jacobsen.

Blending Grandeur with Warmth: The Great Room's Appeal

The first thing that strikes you in The Westly's great room is its scale. Those super-tall, 13-foot ceilings with amazing tongue-and-groove clear VG fir immediately create a sense of grandeur. The fir warms up the space beautifully, preventing it from feeling cavernous. Then there's the "jewelry"—a four-inch thickened Stratus backlit slab countertop that's just gorgeous, perfectly complemented by the dual-fuel, matte black Sub-Zero Wolf range. It’s a bold statement that still feels incredibly inviting.

Thoughtful Integration: Design That Disappears

Mirikeen excels at seamless integration. Take the kitchen, for example. The apron sink is a nice design choice, but what truly stands out are the integrated panels for the dishwasher, fridge, freezer, and wine cooler. This creates a clean, uninterrupted aesthetic that speaks to meticulous attention to detail. These subtle, deliberate choices prevent a high-end kitchen from feeling cluttered and allow the true craftsmanship to shine.

Views as the Centerpiece: Design That Embraces the Landscape

One of the most powerful design elements in The Westly is how Mirikeen has centered everything around the incredible views. From the primary suite, with its integrated automatic shades framing the perfect vista, to the fact that you get views from all three floors – it's a testament to thoughtful site planning. And that rooftop deck? Just under 800 square feet with a fire table and dining space, it truly is the "icing on the cake" and what Kirkland is known for. It’s not just a house with a view; it's a house designed for the view.

Unexpected Details: The "Show Stoppers" Beyond the Obvious

Mirikeen isn't afraid to take risks with unique details that become "show stoppers." The powder room, with its integrated sink from Turkey featuring a fluted detail, and the masculine dark tile with an accented wall, is a perfect example. It's a small space, but it's been given immense personality. Similarly, the main floor primary bath boasts a huge walk-in shower with a fantastic round mosaic pattern on the floor, and a gradient film on the window in front of the tub that allows for natural light and stargazing at night – both beautiful and practical.

The Power of the Entrance: Making a Statement from the Start

From the moment you step in, The Westly makes a statement. The five-by-eight steel pivot door, gorgeous and mirrored for privacy on the outside, is an immediate indicator of the quality and design within. I’m always a fan of a pivot door, but paired with the herringbone tile detail that transitions to the tongue-and-groove ceiling, it’s truly a welcoming and impressive entry sequence. The floating stairs with glass and steel, and the accent lighting, further maximize this initial impression, guiding you upstairs to that incredible view.

Beyond the Visible: Investing in the Homeowner's Future

Perhaps what I appreciate most about Mirikeen Homes, and what I consider their ultimate signature touch, is their commitment to what homeowners might never even see. Mike Jacobson, the owner, shared a detail that truly encapsulated this: they extended the storm drain all the way down the street so the basement gravities. This means no pump, no generator needed, and no worries about a wet basement, even in a power outage. It's these "little things," and sometimes big things, that demonstrate a dedication to making a home safer and better for the future, showcasing an integrity that goes beyond aesthetics.

Mirikeen Homes consistently delivers houses that are not only full of beautiful details and "jewelry," but also built with a forward-thinking approach that truly benefits the homeowner. It's a level of craftsmanship and consideration that makes their homes stand out. Want a deep dive on another Mirikeen masterpiece, check out our feature of “The Weston”.
