Kirkland Hosts the Junior League Softball World Series at Everest Park | EASTSIDE ELEVATE

Kirkland, known for its impressive history of Little League World Series victories and numerous state softball and baseball titles, transforms into a vibrant global stage every July. This quiet neighborhood becomes the hub for the Junior League Softball World Series, one of Little League International’s seven iconic World Series events, welcoming teams from around the world at Everest Park.

Six U.S. Regional Tournament winners join squads from Asia-Pacific, Canada, Europe, Africa, and Latin America to compete for the world championship. The tournament showcases 12- to 14-year-old players and is broadcast worldwide on ESPN+, highlighting Kirkland's pivotal role in the sport. Since 1999, the Washington District 9 committee has hosted the event, with this year’s host team comprised of players from Kirkland National and Kirkland American Little Leagues.

The City of Kirkland is collaborating with Little League International™ and Tournament Director Steve Allen to finalize a new five-year agreement that will enable further investments in improvements at Everest Park, ensuring that this event remains special for both the city and players traveling from around the globe.

This year’s series featured first pitches by local celebrities, sports icons, and elected officials, including Hall of Fame Quarterback Warren Moon, UW & USA Softball Coach Heather Tarr, Super Bowl Champion Cliff Avril, and members of the 1982 Little League World Series title team. Their participation underscores the event's promotion and the strong support for female sports.

As a proud girl-dad, I couldn’t be more thrilled to support this iconic Kirkland event and celebrate 50-years of women and girls in Little League (Girls with Game 50™). Hosting this tournament is a testament to Kirkland’s enduring passion for baseball and softball, uniting players and fans worldwide in the pursuit of excellence. If your summer travel plans kept you away this year, I strongly encourage you to visit the best Little League venue in the state next summer and witness who will claim the world title.
