The Art and Process of Cabinet Design with Stile & Rail | EASTSIDE ELEVATED

When you think about designing a home, you might believe it is simply checking off a list—picking finishes and selecting cabinets. But after my recent tour of Stile & Rail Design + Studio with Todd Brickman, it reminded me that there’s so much more to it. Todd explained that design is a meticulous, handcrafted process that demands expertise and attention from start to finish. Having worked with Todd when building my custom home, I’ve been to the design studio many time. It isn’t just a showroom — it’s a complete design studio where ideas evolve into reality, all with a dedicated point of contact.

More Than Just Cabinets: The Complete Design Experience

There is a depth to the Stile & Rail process. The space is a working hub where initial concepts are translated into detailed plans. It’s a place for meetings, brainstorming, and refining ideas — all part of the journey from an initial sketch to the finished product. As a homeowner and deeply entrenched in Eastside real estate, I appreciated how personalized and integrated the experience is.

Personal Touch Meets European Innovation

Since working with Stile & Rail six years ago, where Todd helped us design Bellmont Cabinets for our own home, I’ve seen their studio grow. The Design + Studio is packed with more visuals and styles from more traditional models to the more edgy modern. Todd mentioned a new showroom coming in just a few months, giving clients an even broader spectrum of options.

A Wide Range of Cabinet Styles for Every Home and Budget

Whether you're building your own custom or a builder designing a spec home for the market, they have a style and price point that will work for you:

  • 1300 Series: An affordable, entry-level option perfect for remodels and spec homes.

  • 1600 Series: Flexible with many style choices, great for both renovations and new builds.

  • 1900 Series: More customized, tailored for clients wanting a personalized touch.

  • Vero Series: Inspired by European design, offering a luxury look at a more accessible price point. Todd explained how they produce these in Sumner, WA, with imported parts from Italy, making high-end European style more budget-friendly.

Todd described the Vero series as a way to get that high-end European aesthetic—"without the international price tag." They have local inventory for clients wanting a sophisticated International design without breaking the bank.

Designing with Precision and Personalization

What impressed me most was their detailed, client-centered approach. Todd walks clients through every step — from broad concepts to tiny details like spice racks and cabinet finishes. Visualize how you will use your space daily, not just how it looks. Todd manages the entire process personally, serving as a single point of contact to ensure seamless communication and consistency. Whether you’re a homeowner or a builder, that kind of dedicated service makes a big difference.

Supporting Builders and Spec Homes with Style

Their team supports both custom homeowners and spec home builders. For spec projects, they prioritize creating standout designs within budget constraints, applying value engineering without sacrificing style. It’s clear they understand the importance of delivering design-forward solutions that resonate with each client.

Staying Ahead of Trends

European influences inspire much of their design philosophy. Todd shared about their bi-annual trips to international design shows, which help them stay ahead of market trends. Their goal? Bring innovative, timeless styles to US homes, blending trendiness with longevity.

The Power of Clear Communication

Ongoing communication — through emails, calls, and virtual meetings – is critical for the iterative process of design, selections and visualizing how you will functionally use the space. This approach ensures everyone stays aligned, making the entire design process smooth and transparent.
